The Buildings section marks fixed places: warehouses, depots, offices, quarries. A building has a point on the map and rooms with floor plans, and cameras are placed on a plan: clicking a mark opens live video. This way the question ‘where exactly does this camera hang’ is answered by the plan, not by the installer’s memory.
The list and the map
The list of buildings with addresses is on the left, the map on the right. Clicking a row shows the building on the map, and the plan icon in the row opens its card with the rooms. Buildings also appear on the Tracking map as a house icon.
A new building
Press + above the list. A name and a point on the map are required; an address is not always needed: a quarry or a mast may have no postal address.
- Address: start typing, and suggestions appear. Next to a suggestion there is a precision icon: a house, a street or a settlement.
- Pick on the map: click the map, and the address is filled in from the point. Outside towns this is the main way: houses in villages are mapped worse than in cities, and a suggestion may return only the street.
- My location: a point from the browser’s geolocation. On a computer without GPS it is estimated from the network and can be off by kilometres, so a circle of uncertainty is drawn on the map. The browser will ask for permission; if you refused earlier, the permission is given back in the browser settings.
Rooms and floor plans
In the building card, the rooms are on the left and the plan of the selected room on the right.
- Rooms and floors
- Floor plan: camera marks, a click opens the video
- Press “+ Room” and give it a name and a floor, for example Storage hall.
- Upload the plan: drag a picture onto the field or choose a file. PNG, JPEG and WebP will do; a drawing or a photo of an evacuation plan is fine too.
- Place the cameras: drag a camera from the “Account cameras” strip to the right spot on the plan, or press “+ to plan” and move the mark.
- Press “Save layout”.
- Clicking a camera mark opens its live video right over the plan.
- A mark’s frame is coloured by the camera’s status: green when online, red when not.
- “Replace plan” changes the picture, and the marks stay in their places: they are stored as fractions of the plan rather than as pixels of the picture, so a redrawn plan of another size does not move them.
- The cross by a mark takes the camera off the plan.
In the apps
Web
Everything described above.
Windows
The Buildings section: the list, the map, a card with rooms, plan upload and camera marks. A building’s point is moved right on the map. There is no geolocation: a computer has nowhere to get it from.
Android
A list of buildings, the map and a building card with plans.
Telegram
In the Telegram panel, Buildings open from the More menu: the list, the map and the plans.
If it did not work
- The building is not saved. No point has been placed on the map: the coordinates are required.
- The plan does not upload. The file is not PNG, JPEG or WebP, or it is a picture of another format with a different extension.
- The “My location” button does nothing. The browser does not give out geolocation without permission; allow it for the site in the browser settings.
