Short answers to the questions asked most often. Details are in the articles behind the links.
Video
Is there a video archive?
No. The server does not record video: the web app and the apps always show what the camera is filming now. A recording is kept on the camera or the DVR itself, if it is turned on there. The timeline in Assets scrubs the map, not the video.
Why is there no sound?
The stream for the browser comes without an audio track. This is what lets the picture play everywhere.
Can a camera without a public IP be connected?
Yes. A trunk is installed at the site: it picks up the video on the site’s network and sends it to the server itself, with no port forwarding. Some cameras can send video by themselves; our support sets up such a connection. See The trunk and Panopticum OS.
Why does DVR video not start at once?
A DVR starts the stream on command and from a key frame, so the first picture comes in 10 or 15 seconds. The video travels over the vehicle’s mobile connection and takes up its capacity, so it is on only while someone is watching. See DVR video.
How many cameras can I watch at once?
The video wall shows all the account’s cameras at once: from two to six in a row, the rest further down. Each tile is a separate stream, so how many cameras play without stuttering depends on the computer or phone and on the connection. Up to four DVRs can be on at the same time.
Vehicles and devices
Which devices are supported?
Carvis video recorders, Navtelecom devices and any trackers with the Wialon IPS protocol. Ports and identifiers are in How to connect a device.
The vehicle is driving, but on the map it stands still. Why?
Most often the device has no satellite fix (the vehicle is indoors, the antenna is covered) or no connection. If the vehicle has the “catching up” badge, the device is sending its old history. More in Device is offline.
How do I find out whether a device was online?
The connectivity panel in Tracking shows each device’s connectivity bars for a day, a week or a month. See Connectivity history.
Can data be sent to Rostransnadzor or another system?
Yes, by retranslation over EGTS or Wialon IPS: the same points go to the second system, and no second device is needed in the vehicle. See Retranslation.
Data and reports
How long is data kept?
Tracks, geofence events and connection history for 90 days, camera availability checks for 30 days, the checkpoint passage log with frames for 90 days (frames of denials for 30 days). All the periods are in Plans, limits and retention.
Why does the mileage in a report differ from the odometer?
They are different measurements. Trip mileage is calculated from the track points, and coordinate jumps and connection gaps do not go into it. Odometer mileage is taken from the device’s own readings, if it sends them. The Summary and Trips tables have both. See Report tables and charts.
Is fuel shown in litres?
No. Devices send the fuel level without a tank calibration, so the reports have charts of the level from the CAN bus and from the sensor, in per cent.
How do I export a report to Excel?
The CSV button of a table saves it as it is on the screen; the file opens in Excel. “Print” saves the report as a PDF. See Reports.
Access and payment
How many employees can I add?
As many as you like. The plan limits only the number of cameras and devices. Employee roles are in Users and roles.
I have forgotten my password. What do I do?
For an employee, the account owner sets a new password in the Users section. For the owner, our support changes the password. See Signing in and access.
What happens if an invoice is not paid?
After the due date and 5 days of grace, access to the web app and the apps is suspended. The equipment keeps sending data, and after payment access comes back at once, with the history unbroken. See Plan and payment.
How do I change my plan?
Write to us: the new plan takes effect from the next billing month.
Apps
Is there an app for iPhone?
Not a separate one. On an iPhone, the web app works in the browser, and so does the panel in Telegram. See Which app to choose.
Do the apps need a separate username?
No. Your web app username and password work in Windows, Android and the Telegram panel.
How are the apps updated?
The Windows and Android apps offer to update by themselves when a new version comes out. The latest versions are always on the Apps page.
